“A Thoughtful Approach to Women’s Wellness” is a free event crafted exclusively for women. The day includes a continental breakfast, lunch and information on how to become healthier.

Women’s Wellness will be Feb. 28, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Loffler Senior Center, 21905 Chancellors Run Road, Great Mills, Maryland. Pre-registration is required. Call 301-475-6019 to learn more and to register.

The day’s program is presented by St. Mary’s Delicados, Inc. and MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital. There will be free health screenings available, educational materials, and speakers addressing women’s health topics.

“Women take care of so many people in their lives, and they often don’t take the time to be mindful of their own health. We want to empower women with knowledge about preventative measures and specific health concerns so they may live healthy, rewarding lives,” said guest speaker, Lorraine Diana, CRNP with MedStar Georgetown Gynecology. Ms. Diana will be speaking on women’s health concerns across the continuum of life.

“A Thoughtful Approach to Women’s Wellness” will be relaxing and informative. The day will provide time to sit back and focus on your own well-being.

Other speakers include Roxanne Richards, MD, of MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital Primary Care, who will speak about the symptoms of sickle cell disease. Arthur Flatau III, MD, vascular surgeon, MedStar Vascular Institute, will provide information on the most minimally-invasive procedures for varicose veins and venous disease. Yvonne M. Dawkins, RN, of MedStar St. Mary’s, will address what women need to know about domestic violence. Andrea Hamilton, program coordinator with Health Connections, will present “Lifestyle Changes to Create a Healthier You.”
