poverty

A poverty simulation event will be held March 7 from 8 am to 3 pm at Lexington Park Elementary School. The event, an interactive learning experience designed to increase poverty awareness, is being sponsored by the St. Mary’s County commissioners and the county’s Department of Aging and Human Services.

Participants will navigate through challenges families face every day when living in poverty.

By participating in the event, attendees will gain a better understanding of how poverty impacts the families they work with and inspire change to help strengthen the community. This event is in support of the Governor’s Office for Children’s ENOUGH Initiative.
