The New Economy Sparks Creativity
Mortgage rates are continuing to attract home buyers, says Jeff Errington of Errington Builders, and they’re seeking to get the maximum for every dollar.
After 42 years in the home-building business, Mr. Errington shares two cardinal rules he has always followed.
The first is to listen and learn what the homeowner wants. “I’m building the home for you,” he tells his clients.
The second is to use creativity to reach aesthetic, as well as practical, goals. Aesthetically, Mr. Errington insists, “A million dollar home doesn’t have to cost a million dollars.” Practically, creativity is what has led Errington Builders to become a leader in energy-efficient home construction.
On a recent tour of a house he has under construction, he shows where geothermal heating will be installed as well as the two water heaters the geothermal system will operate. These technologies are among an array of leading edge products used by Errington Builders, which include a foam insulation that is completely sealed.
Along the exterior walls, whatever the ultimate cost of this house, there are plenty of windows for what is clearly a million-dollar view.
