Cruz Ups Ante in Fight Over Bill To Keep Government Open

Ted Cruz (R-Texas) vowed Sunday to try to block the Senate from considering a bill to fund federal agencies in the new fiscal year if Democrats include money for the president’s health-care overhaul, the Wall Street Journal reports. Federal agencies will have to suspend much of their work and many federal services on Oct. 1, the start of the new fiscal year, unless Congress authorizes funding.

 

The defense contracting industry believes sequestration is here to stay and is pushing for DoD to establish a “defense industrial base strategy” that would clarify DoD priorities and how it plans to spend its reduced resources, Defense News reports.
