Chief’s Ride for Charlotte Hall Veterans Home

Charlotte Hall Veterans Home

For eight years, Frank Deaton of King of Tees has coordinated the annual Chief’s Ride to the Wall over Memorial Day weekend as a fundraiser, with all proceeds donated  to the Charlotte Hall Veterans home.

The annual fundraiser has so far raised more than $20,000 for the Charlotte Hall Veterans Home, the only Assisted Living Veterans Home in the State of Maryland.

All riders are welcome on any kind of bike to join the Chief Petty Officers on the annual Chief’s Ride to the Wall. The riders each year meet up with the Rolling Thunder Run to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, DC, honoring those who served.

In the video here, Mr. Deaton welcomes the 2015 riders and thanks them for their efforts on behalf of the veterans at Charlotte Hall Veterans Home in Charlotte Hall, MD.

The Rolling Thunder Run mission is to educate, facilitate, and never forget by means of a demonstration for service members that were abandoned after the Vietnam War. Rolling Thunder has also evolved into a display of patriotism and respect for all who defend our country, according to their website.

Charlotte Hall Veterans Home has been proudly “Serving Those Who Served” since 1985.  The Home is situated on 126 beautiful acres in St. Mary’s County, and offers and a continuum of care from the 168-bed assisted living program to the 286-bed skilled nursing program.  Charlotte Hall Veterans Home also offers memory care in secure units. The Home is Medicare/Medicaid certified, and all veterans receive a per diem subsidy from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs that reduces their cost of care. The Home is inspected annually, as required by the Office of Health Care Quality, MD Dept. of Health & Mental Hygiene, and by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. To visit the Charlotte Hall Veterans Home website click here.
