Art Blooms at Annmarie Garden
On Saturday, and Sunday, July 20 & 21, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., the public is invited to tour the Art Blooms ’13 Exhibit, a spectacular show featuring live floral arrangements inspired by works of art from the Annmarie galleries.
More than 40 floral designers from across the state will create arrangements for this year’s exhibit. This unique pairing of art and nature provides an environment for the floral designers to expand their creative horizons and utilize natural materials to interpret exhibit themes. The exhibits which will serve as the inspiration for the designs, are Elements in Balance: earth, air, fire, water in the Main Gallery and text/message; a teen art exhibit in the Mezzanine Gallery.
These two exhibits provide a fascinating array of colors, images, and themes for the floral designers. The Art Blooms Exhibit is co-hosted by the Calvert Garden Club and Annmarie Garden, and will run each day.
Floral Design Demonstration, Saturday, July 20, 2013, 10:30 a.m. – Noon
As part of the Art Blooms Exhibit, guests are invited to drop in Saturday, July 20, 10:30am-noon, to learn about the creative process of floral interpretation. Designers from the Calvert Garden Club will share their design secrets during this casual drop-in demonstration. After the demo, guests are invited to tour the Art Blooms Exhibit and take a walk in the garden. Reservations are not required; demo is included with the price of admission; free for members.
Art Blooms Gala Reception, Friday, July 19, 7-10 p.m.
The public is invited to the Art Blooms Gala Reception on Friday, July 19, 7-10 p.m., at Annmarie Sculpture Garden & Arts Center. Co-hosted by the Calvert Garden Club and Annmarie Garden, the Gala is the opening night celebration for the Art Blooms Exhibit. Tickets are $55 for Annmarie & Calvert Garden Club members; $65 for non-members. The event will feature delicious hors d’oeurves, cash bar, live music, and a sneak peak at the more than 40 floral arrangements that make up the Art Blooms Exhibit.
