Hospice Offers Support Group During Holidays

Holidays can be an especially difficult time for individuals who have recently suffered the loss of a loved one. Hospice of St. Mary’s will be offering a special support group through the month of December to help individuals who are having a difficult time dealing with their grief.

The Grief and The Holidays Support Group will be held every Wednesday starting Dec. 7, 2016, through Jan. 4, 2017, from 2 to 3 pm at the Hospice House at 44724 Hospice Lane in Callaway, Maryland. Space is limited, so participants should call 301-994-3078 to register.

Hospice has other bereavement programs available during the year.

Adults (ages 18 and older):

• Short-term individual and/or family counseling
• Up to 13 months of contact with families of Hospice patients
• Extensive referral resource information for long-term counseling

Adolescents (ages 13 through 18):

• Through My Eyes Teen Support Group: Designed for any adolescent who has lost a loved one through death.
• Registration is required, call the bereavement office at 301-994-3078 for details.

Children (ages 6 through 12):

• Sunrise Children’s Group: Designed for any child who has lost a loved one through death. Registration is required, call the bereavement office for details. This group runs several times a year.
• Camp Sunrise: Two-day weekend camp held in the summer months at Camp Maria in Leonardtown, Maryland, for youth who have lost a loved one through death.

Individual Support (ages 6 and older):

• Bereavement support is available on an individual basis for grief counseling. Appointment is required.
