Public Health Academy for Students Offered

Applications Now Being Accepted
Applications are now open for the St. Mary’s County Health Department Summer Student Academy in Public Health, which provides rising high school seniors with an immersive experience in public health.
The program runs annually throughout the month of July. SAPH students spend approximately 20 to 25 hours per week during the program toward the following components:
- Learn about and analyze multiple public health topics.
- Actively participate in weekly public health group learning/discussions.
- Observe different local public health services and participate in field experiences, community partner meetings, and community outreach and education events.
- Complete a comprehensive project on one area in public health and possible interventions if applicable.
Applicants are required to be a rising high school senior, maintain at least a 2.5 GPA, and submit an application, resume, and optional letter of recommendation.
