“Wear your favorite sweater and come in out of the cold to hear myths, tales, legends, folklore, archetypes, and even a nighty-night lullaby set to music. All of these are part of “The Storytellers,” the recital that the brilliant American mezzo-soprano Kathryn Krasovec will perform at Music from Poplar Hill … We can’t wait to hear her luminous, glorious sound light up the sanctuary at historic St. George’s Episcopal Church in Valley Lee!” reads the series Facebook page.
Her program will include music by Manuel deFalla and Claude Debussy; American composers William Bolcom, Missy Mazzoli and Eric Whitacre; and selections from Stephen Sondheim’s “Sweeney Todd.” Joining Ms. Krasovec for the Sondheim works will be baritone Thomas Meglioranza, who will also perform settings by Margaret Bonds of poetry by Langston Hughes.
A graduate of The Juilliard School and San Francisco Opera’s Merola Young Artist Program, Ms. Krasovec has performed at The Metropolitan Opera, Spoleto Festival USA, Weill Hall/Carnegie Hall, National Theater of Prague and Theater Bremen, Germany, among many others.
