Women’s Wellness Event Coming Up
Women of all ages will find the information they need to improve their health and well-being at the MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital Women’s Wellness event Saturday, Feb. 25, 2017. The event will be held from 8:30 am to 2:30 pm at the Loffler Senior Center at 21905 Chancellors Run Road in Great Mills, Maryland.
The medical needs of women are unique, and the medical community takes those issues seriously. The Women’s Wellness event is a way to get a better understanding of those needs all in one place. During the free program, women can take advantage of health screenings, a continental breakfast and lunch, and several individual programs that focus on women’s health issues and nutrition.
Throughout the day, there will be health displays and useful educational materials available.
Dr. Quinton Lucas of MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital Primary Care will be one of the guest speakers, and his speech is titled “Kidneys 101.”
Catherine Dowling, RDN, LDN, of MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital will give a presentation titled “Every Drop Counts: Staying Well Hydrated.”
Dr. Baskar Jhaveri of MedStar Shah Medical Group will present “Seated Yoga for Better Breathers.”
“The Who, What, When, Where and Why on Incontinence” will be presented by Shaya Dawson, PT, DPT, clinic director with NRH Rehabilitation Network at Hollywood, and Jenna Holmes, PT, DPT, Certified Medical Diagnosis and Therapy, Rehab Clinical Lead with MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital.
Dr. Amanda Richards Lakusta of MedStar Eye Physicians will present “The Aging Eye.”
The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office will be there to accept any prescription and over-the-counter medications for disposal. They will be able to accept old pills, but not syringes, inhalers, drugs in aerosol canisters, or chemotherapy drugs, whether they are in IV or oral form.
