Sailors vied with wind, fatigue and their competitors in the overnight race that started in Annapolis Friday, Aug. 2, and ended at St. Marys College of Maryland on St. Mary’s River Saturday, Aug. 3.

The unofficial results of the 2013 Governor’s Cup Yacht Race are on the race’s website.

This year was the 40th running of the oldest and longest overnight race on the Chesapeake Bay – from the newest state capital to the oldest. A separate Potomac River leg of the race from Dahlgren, Va., was added in 2012  run again this year.

Participants and spectators could follow their travails overnight on live GPS tracking through the Kattack mobile app. On Saturday food selections were provided by local vendors and the Trinity Episcopal Church where breakfast began at 5:30 a.m., as well as family-fun activities.

Final race times will be made official when times are verified.
