WARM Awareness Week Schedule

WARM, a coalition of St. Mary’s County churches that provide food and shelter to homeless community members, has announced the events schedule for its Homelessness and Hunger Awareness Week 2011.

Sunday, Nov. 13 – Awareness Sunday
Watch for special activities and a WARM Volunteer to come to your local church.

Monday, Nov. 14 – Awareness Reading Day
Elementary students will have a better understanding of homelessness & hunger after listening to one of our carefully selected books.  These well written books will also be featured and read at the Leonardtown and Lexington Park Libraries.

Tuesday, Nov. 15 – Eat Out to End Homelessness & Hunger
Join us for lunch at Outback at 11:00 A.M. You can choose from steak, chicken or pasta.  All meals are served with caesar salad, rice, rolls and a drink.  The cost is $20 per person and a reservation is required by Nov.10th.  [email protected] Proceeds will benefit WARM and partnering organizations; St. Mary’s Caring, Walden, Leah’s House and Three Oaks Center.

Awareness Family Movie Nights
Tuesday Nov. 15 –
SAYSF Bible Church in California, MD.  Doors open at 6 P.M., the movies will begin at 6:30 P.M.
Wednesday, Nov. 16
– First Saints Community Church in Leonardtown. Doors open at 5:30 P.M., the movies will begin at 6:30 P.M.
Enjoy a fun night for a serious issue.  Concessions will be available.  See our website for further details and directions.

Thursday, Nov. 17 – A Magically WARM Night!
Say “NO” to Homelessness & Hunger by attending this important community event at Lenny’s Restaurant.  Art created by local homeless residents will be on display and auctioned off.  The event will begin at 6 P.M.  Advanced ticket purchase is required.

Friday, Nov. 18 – Moment of Silence
A moment of silence will be observed to remember the homeless in your thoughts and prayers.  11 A.M.

Saturday, Nov. 19 – Walk to END Homelessness
Show your support by participating in this annual three-mile walk in La Plata, MD.  7 A.M. – 1 P.M. This event benefits our neighboring organization “Safe Nights” in Charles County.  Information available at www.lifestylesofmd.org.
