Posted for Walden Behavioral Health

For about 25 years, September has been known as National Recovery Month.

This observation is meant to highlight the importance of addiction treatment and mental health services to enable those with a mental or substance use disorder to live a healthy and rewarding life.

Walden Behavioral Health wants to take the opportunity to remind Southern Maryland residents that the organization is available to help. Walden provides addiction and mental health treatment and recovery services. The 24-hour Crisis Hotline, 301-863-6661, has been funded by the St. Mary’s County Government for more than 40 years. The hotline provides crisis intervention and access to treatment. Walden receives close to 1,000 calls each month.

Walden offers individualized substance abuse treatment targeted to fit the individualized needs of both adolescents and adults and offers walk-in assessments at all locations. Mental health therapy is offered in Lexington Park, Charlotte Hall and Waldorf locations with walk-in assessments available at each of these locations. To schedule an appointment please call 888-912-7366.

Recovery support services provide peer-based and additional support to adults and youth and are offered at the Beacon of Hope Recovery & Wellness Center in Lexington Park and The Cove/DFZ located in California. All services provided at the Cove and Beacon are free. Walden has many events scheduled throughout the month, check the website for details or find them on Facebook.

With Kathleen O’Brien as CEO, Walden’s partners include St. Mary’s County Government, the St. Mary’s County Health Department, MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital, DSS, DJS, the courts and local law enforcement, always striving to address the complicated disease of addiction. Walden helps thousands of citizens annually. No matter what the issue, Walden staff is ready to provide support and assistance, anytime, day or night at 301-863-6661.

With the continued support of the Southern Maryland community, Walden brings “Help for today. Hope for tomorrow.”
