Trisha Post for School Board

Posted by Trisha Post
Candidate
St. Mary’s County Maryland Board of Education

I feel education is the heart of any community and to encourage continued prosperity in St Mary’s County we need a top notch educational system.

My name is Trisha Post and I am running for a seat on St. Mary’s County Board of Education. I’d like to tell you a little bit about myself and why I am running.

We moved to the county in 1997 so that my husband could attend Test Pilot School at Patuxent River, MD and live in Town Creek. I have been involved with the St. Mary’s County Public Schools since our three children entered school beginning in 2001.

My involvement includes serving in many capacities:

  • County Council of PTAs, currently as President
  • Council Representative to the Maryland State PTA
  • Co-chair for two redistricting committees
  • School calendar committee
  • School policy and regulation committee
  • Chair Reflections Art Gala
  • Safety and Security Advisory Committee
  • Chair CCPTA/Lettie Marshall Dent Scholarship

I am self-employed as a security clearance investigator and have run a successful business in St Mary’s County since 2006. A flexible schedule allows me to pursue additional interests as well.

Since 1997, I have volunteered as a Court Appointed Special Advocate for the children of St Mary’s County.  I have been trained as a Mediator and have volunteered with the Community Mediation Center of St Mary’s County. I attend various community advocacy programs through the Office of Community Services.

I want to ensure that the education of our children is in the forefront of  St. Mary’s County.

Please visit my website to learn more about me and my vision for St. Mary’s County Public Schools.

How school board members are elected:  School board members are non-partisan and all voters in the county are able to vote for each candidate.  My name appears among three candidates on the April 3, 2012 primary ballot for the Board of Education At Large seat. The two candidates receiving the highest number of votes will contend for the seat in the general election in November 2012.

Please vote for me April 3rd and again in November.
