The Patuxent Partnership invites members and the regional community to its next Brown Bag Briefing using MOOCs, Massive Online Open Courseware.

A massive open online course, MOOC is an online course aimed at large-scale interactive participation and open access via the web. In addition to traditional course materials such as videos, readings, and problem sets, MOOCs provide interactive user forums that help build a community for the students, professors, and teaching assistants. MOOCs are a recent development in distance education. Most of these courses are free of charge.

The briefing will speak to this question, “The growing need for personal mastery, critical thinking, and strategic skills, especially in our rapidly changing times… how can we address this?”

The briefing will be with Prof. Ben Bederson, Special Advisor to the Provost on Technology and Educational Transformation, University of Maryland, and Dr. Karen Cooper, Research Scientist Future Workforce Technologies and Strategies, NAVAIR.

The briefing is scheduled for Tuesday, August 6, 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m.; Bay District Fire Department Social Hall; 46900 South Shangri-La Dr, Lexington Park, MD 20653

There is no cost for this program. To register contact The Patuxent Partnership.

Bring your lunch.  Doors open at 11:15 a.m.
