Summer Blood Drives Set

Blood donation

During summer months, blood donations often drop. The American Red Cross continues to seek eligible donors, asking them to find the time this summer to give blood and ensure a sufficient blood supply.

The need for a sufficient blood supply never ends: every two seconds someone in the US. needs blood. Calvert, Charles and St. Mary’s counties have scheduled a number of blood drives to help fill the dire need for a well-stocked supply.

Donors of all blood types – especially those with types O negative, A negative and B negative – are needed. The Red Cross must collect 15,000 blood donations every day to meet the needs of patients at approximately 2,600 hospitals and transfusion centers nationwide.
