Students Set for County Science Fair

The Patuxent Partnership encourages you to attend the St. Mary’s County Science and Engineering Fair t0 be held Saturday, Feb. 13, 2016, at Great Mills High School.

The school is at 21130 Great Mills Road in Great Mills, Maryland.

Students will register their science fair projects on Feb. 12. Judging and awards will take place Saturday. Projects will be judged from 7:45 to 9 am Feb. 13 without the student exhibitors present. From 9 am to 12:30 pm judging will continue with the students present.

After a lunch break, the science fair exhibits will be open to the public from 1:30 to 3:30 pm. Students will be at their exhibits. The public also can attend an awards ceremony from 3:30 to 5:30 pm.

The Calvert County Science and Engineering Fair will be Saturday, Feb. 20, at Calvert High School at 520 Fox Run Blvd. in Prince Frederick.

Charles County Public Schools is launching a new approach this school year that combines science and history fair projects and demonstrations, as well as technology and engineering programs, into a showcase event called the History, Industry, Technology and Science (HITS) Expo. The expo replaces the annual science and history fairs, generally held annually in the spring, and will also showcase several programs offered to Charles County public school students such as robotics, the computer science partnership with Code.org, and Project Lead the Way. The first expo is planned for March 19 at St. Charles High School at 5305 Piney Church Road in Waldorf.

TPP fosters collaboration and the sharing of knowledge and expertise across a diverse network that includes government, industry and academia. TPP also supports STEM education and workforce development within the local community including hosting programs of interest to NAVAIR, NAWCAD and the broader DoD community.
