See the Floral Fantasies at Annmarie

Floral Fantasies

Floral arranging is a whole lot more than putting flowers in a vase, and more than 30 floral designers from all across Southern Maryland will prove that with an exhibit at Annmarie Sculpture Garden and Art Center in July. The weekend exhibit from noon to 4 pm Saturday, July 16, and Sunday, July 17, is called Fabulous Floral Fantasies: Art Blooms Floral Exhibit and Demonstration.

The Floral Fantasies exhibit had a unique premise: each floral designer was assigned a work of art from the exhibit Swarm: Invasion of the Insects, and then were asked to create an arrangement that was inspired by that chosen work of art. Annmarie is describing the resulting work as “surprising, beautiful, and provocative – and not to be missed.”

If you’d like to learn more about the designs from the artist, come a little early on Saturday, July 16. Between 10:30 am and noon, visitors can learn about the creative process that the artists use for their floral interpretation. The incredibly talented floral designers from the Calvert Garden Club will share the secrets of their designs during this casual, drop-in demonstration. Once you see the demonstration, take a tour of the Art Blooms Exhibit, take a walk in the garden, or just enjoy the sculpture garden however you’d like.

Admission to the demo is free. For more information, visit the Annmarie website listed above; call 410- 326-4640; or email [email protected].
