The women your meal helps today will be the ones delivering a better future tomorrow.

Meet the challenge of STEM-ING, which inspires middle-schoolers to enter Science, Technology, Engineering and MathRuby Tues Stemming careers, simply by dining at Ruby Tuesday, 45138 1st Colony Way, California, MD, Dec. 20-22, 2013. Bring this flyer from The Patuxent Partnership‘s calendar page  and 20% of your dining bill will be donated to STEM-ING.

The local STEM-ING initiative operated last year as a chapter of the national Expanding Your Horizons Network. The group hosted a successful one-day, hands-on STEM event to heighten the awareness of science, technology, engineering and math opportunities and related careers for young women. The event involved 55 middle school participants from St. Mary’s County, all female.

This year’s goal is to include 140 participants. The same core group, now operating as STEM-ING, an independent, locally created group, will host the event May 3, 2014, on the campus of St. Mary’s College of Maryland.

This one-day event is designed to expose middle school girls to local STEM professionals to provide positive role models and introduce real-life working women in STEM careers. The day uses  hands-on workshops to challenge the participants to interact with STEM in engaging and practical ways. All activities, workshop materials, lunch, and snacks are included for 140 student participants.

STEM-ING derived its name from its mission: Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics – Inspiring the Next Generation.

Grab The Patuxent Partnership flyer and a meal at Ruby Tuesday. Help us build a strong STEM future.

This offer is only good Dec. 20 – 22 at the Ruby Tuesday at the First Colony shopping center at 45138 First Colony Way, California, MD.
