Remembering the Tulip

Officials from Naval Air Station Patuxent River held a memorial ceremony Friday for the 47 men who were killed in a boiler explosion aboard the USS Tulip in 1864. The Navy maintains a memorial on a site on St. Inigoes Creek, near Webster Field, where eight of the men where buried.
