Registering for an Art Class is Easy at Annmarie Garden
SOLOMONS, MD—Annmarie Sculpture Garden & Arts Center in Solomons celebrates art with many art class and workshop offerings designed for all ages! Come experience your own creativity at one of Southern Maryland’s most unique and beautiful places.
Here are just some of the classes offered in August:
2014 Summer Public Art Project: Daily drop-in continues through Aug. 31, 2014.
Visit any day, 10 am-5 pm to contribute to this growing work of art!
Visitors of all ages are invited to drop in the Summer Public Art Project table and draw and paint on giant swatches of sailcloth. Lauren Feusahrens, our 2014 Summer Artist-In-Residence has created a community art project called Jibe: Compositions on Sail.
Visitors are encouraged to help Lauren turn giant pieces of recycled sailcloth into giant works of art by adding their creative touch.
Jibe: “to shift from one side of a ship to the other when the stern passes across a following or quartering wind”
Contributions are welcome through Aug. 31, but even as the public art continues, the sailcoths will be transformed into mazes for ARTmazing! Get lost in a maze of sailcloth art from Aug. 2 through Oct. 31.
Fused Glass Tiles & Coasters: Aug. 2 10 am – 1 pm
Leza Hepler will instruct students who will design, cut and fabricate 4 glass tiles/coasters. You will be using glass, stringers, frits and some decals.
Glass compatibility will be discussed. Finished works will be placed into a glass kiln and fired for 6 hours. Tiles will be ready a few days after class.

HoopShop: A Hula Hoop Workshop: for ages 8-12 Aug. 9 10 – 11:30 am
This workshop includes hoop dance instruction. Choose your hoop and use our supplies to make it colorful!
Leave the workshop with an awesome hula hoop and a few new moves. Fun for scouts or birthday celebrations!
Member Cost: $12 Nonmember Cost: $18 Materials Fee of $15 due to instructor Cristal Toribio.
Textured Silver Rings: Aug. 16 1 – 4 pm
Using a torch and various texturing techniques, students will learn how to take a plain piece of .999% pure silver wire and free form their own, truly one of a kind ring. Two rings will be completed in class. Great for any level of experience.
Member Cost: $40 Nonmember Cost: $45 Materials Fee of $40 is due to instructor Tricia Hall at the start of the class.
