Changing with the Season

A Change of Season

What a great season this is! We are able to look outside and see the change of season. Some prefer one season over another but for me I like the changes that take place in between as we progress from one to the other.

Some people just hate to see winter approach and others hide indoors in air conditioned comfort almost all summer. We each seem to have our preferences. The unique thing about the change of seasons is that we can not stop it or reverse it. Once God puts nature into motion a great symphony erupts all around us. Every living creature is busy in preparation for the changes to come. From the smallest insect to the largest mammal every single living thing is suddenly aware that we are in for dramatic changes in how we go about our daily lives.

The same thing happens when we fully trust Jesus to change us from a lost sinner to a saved saint. Dramatic changes take place, and some of us are not prepared for what is involved.

Note the words of Numbers 9:23, “At the commandment of the LORD they rested in the tents, and at the commandment of the LORD they journeyed: they kept the charge of the LORD, at the commandment of the LORD by the hand of Moses.”

There are many times in life where each believer reaches a cross road. This is the point in which decisions have to be made about direction and life choices. Sometimes the choices are simple; whether or not to diet or to redecorate a room are examples of simple choices. Sometimes they are not so simple. Often we must decide whether to have a major surgery, change jobs, marry or divorce, or some other major decisions. There are many who bog down when faced with such decisions. Others act but do so recklessly. Knowing when to move and when to be still is one of the most crucial lessons we learn as believers. This is important to us because we know there are times when God wants us to take action, but there are also times when God wants us to “be still and Know That I Am God”(Ps. 46:10).

As a believer we must seek periods where we experience quiet moments to hear God clearly, confirming what we sense to be the voice of God speaking. It is important to hear God clearly because there are so many contrasting voices today, many of which sound like the voice of God. Our Christian experience thus far has taught us to listen for the voice of God. When God speaks to our hearts, we sense it immediately. Then we look and listen for confirmations as God repeats the message to us by sending us other signs and indicators. His Holy Spirit directs us through inspiration. We can test what we sense against the Word of God itself. If what we are moving to do is against what the Word of God teaches or is doubtful, we know it is not God telling us to move. If the Word supports what we sense, then we should look for the confirmations. God will send them when it is truly time to move! As Christians, we ask God to lead us and guide us. When He says ‘stay put’ we do just that. However, when God says “move” we are ready to move at His command!

As we move forward on the Path to Possessing the Promise, let us take heed of the following:
1. Don’t misplace our hope, faith and trust
2. Dreams can be risky, but risk is necessary
3. Don’t procrastinate, just do it. Move at the command of God
