PAX River Honors 9/11 Victims and Responders
Today at Patuxent River Naval Air Station, servicemen and women, civilian rescue and emergency response personnel, and their family members gathered on the parade grounds to honor those who gave their lives and to those who helped the survivors in the September 11, 2001, attacks in New York City, the Pentagon, and Pennsylvania that killed 2,977 people.
During the ceremony, servicemen spoke from their hearts about the appreciation they hold for all those who voluntarily work to keep our country safe both overseas and here at home. To honor those firefighters, police and emergency rescue personnel who work every day in our community, those in attendance lined the streets as a procession of representatives from each of the local emergency response centers drove by.
