F-35C JSF night takeoffCommunities surrounding the Naval Air Station Patuxent River are advised that noise-generating night-time testing events are scheduled through Thursday, Nov. 29. Test events are scheduled from 4:30 to 9:30 p.m. on these days.

Pilots at Pax River will be testing and training for realistic night flight scenarios. These events will include, night precision runway approach and landing and low-visibility operational testing.

Residents may notice increased noise levels due to these operations.

Evening operations are scheduled to take place with increasing regularity throughout the longer nights of the fall and winter months. Changes in flight patterns may also be noticed as changing weather conditions and wind patterns play a significant role in which runways aircraft can take-off and land on.

Due to testing requirements and winter weather conditions, these operations may also lead to increased noise levels experienced by the surrounding communities in Southern St. Mary’s and Calvert counties.
