Patuxent Habitat To Start Second Chiefs’ Build

home construction

Patuxent Habitat for Humanity will hold a groundbreaking on Friday, April 13 at 8 AM at 21863 Milton Lane in Lexington Park. Immediately following the groundbreaking, Habitat volunteers, led by Matt Kulp of Galaxy Homes, will begin a two-day Blitz Build, with plans to complete the framing by the time they wrap up on Saturday. Habitat is partnering with the NAS Patuxent River Navy Chief Petty Officers, led by ATC (AW/SW) Joseph Aguilar for Chiefs’ Build II. The inaugural Chiefs’ build in 2011 was initiated by Command Master Chief Mark Cummings who will retire later this month.

The home will be built in partnership with Mary King for her family, which includes her step-daughter and granddaughter. King, who works at Naval Air Station Patuxent River as a Voucher Examiner, was selected to partner with Patuxent Habitat for Humanity by the Board of Directors. As part of the partnership, King and her family will spend 400 hours working on her home, and on other Habitat for Humanity home projects.
