Nice Geocaching Weather

The Naval Aviation Centennial geocaching event officially started last weekend, but, in case you didn’t get a chance to go hunting with satellites, the weather man is predicting blue skies and cool air for this weekend.

For those unfamiliar with geocaching, it’s kind of like a scavenger hunt, except you use a Global Positioning System device or a GPS-enabled mobile phone to find hidden “caches,” usually plastic containers that contain unique objects or are placed near interesting landmarks.

The current geocaching event underway all over Lexington Park, Maryland is being sponsored by the Lexington Park Business and Community Association. Geocachers who manage to find all of the hidden caches in this challenge will receive one of 200 commemorative “geocoins.” So far, over 40 people have logged their participation on Geocaching.com, but if you don’t feel like logging into the site, you can drive over to the Lexington Park Library and start your hunt at the coordinates on the map below:
