NAVAIR Meeting Cybersecurity Challenges

New Leadership

The Patuxent Partnership will welcome Darryl Allen, deputy CIO for cybersecurity and information assurance, as he discusses NAVAIR’s transition from Risk Management Framework to the Department of Defense Information Assurance Certification and Accreditation Process, NAVAIR’s designation of a Functional Authorizing Official, Functional Security Control Assessor, and what this means for the aviation systems and weapons platforms.

The event will be held Tuesday, Aug 16, 2016, at the Southern Maryland Higher Education Center Building 2 Center Hall at 44219 Airport Drive in California, MD 20619.

Check-in and coffee will start at 7:30 am. There will be a briefing at 8 am. The event will conclude at 9:30 am.

There is no cost for this program. Advance registration is requested to manage catering and seating.

As threats become increasingly sophisticated, persistent, and diverse, US Navy personnel, processes, and systems must also increase vigilance and capability to mitigate unauthorized access, malicious attacks, and denial of service. These objectives were previously met under DoD’s Information Assurance Certification and Accreditation Process. Risk Management Framework is the replacement for DIACAP and will now be the mechanism by which NAVAIR meets the cybersecurity challenges confronting Navy information and information systems.

Also mark your calendar for The Patuxent Partnership’s Big Data Symposium to be held from 8 am to 4 pm Thursday, Sept. 1. The proposed panel discussions could include Big Data Opportunities for NAVAIR, Solutions From the Outside – Big Data Logistics, and Creating a Vision of What’s Possible With Big Data.

The event will be held at the  Southern Maryland Higher Education Center. Check The Patuxent Partnership’s website site linked to above for updates as they become available.
