The weather is cooling off, but the College of Southern Maryland is just warming up with a full schedule for students and the community.

CSM’s 2015-16 fine arts program includes dramatic, comedic and musical theater for adults and children, performances of Latin, barbershop, jazz and classical music, visual arts and dance, and literary lectures.

Art exhibits from September through May 2016 at the Tony Hungerford Memorial Art Gallery on the La Plata Campus include landscapes, photography, mixed media and student works. For dates and artist bios, visit here.

St. Mary’s County

CSM Connections: “Three Local Poets.” 7:30 pm, Nov. 6. College of Southern Maryland Leonardtown Campus, Building A, Auditorium, 22950 Hollywood Road, Leonardtown. “Friendly Friday” at CSM. 9 am to 1:30 pm, Nov. 13. College of Southern Maryland Leonardtown Campus, Building A, Room A-206, 22950 Hollywood Road, Leonardtown. “Friendly Friday” is an opportunity for students to fast-track enrollment to CSM by completing an application, taking placement tests, meeting an advisor, registering and paying for spring semester classes in one visit. CSM Ward Virts Concert Series: The Unified Jazz Ensemble, jazz quartet. 3 pm, Nov 1. College of Southern Maryland, Prince Frederick Campus, Building B, Multipurpose Room, 115 J.W. Williams Road, Prince Frederick. Based in Annapolis, the Unified Jazz Ensemble is dedicated to bringing the best of jazz to audiences of all ages. Founded in 1992 as the first jazz group in the National Endowment for the Arts Rural Residency Arts Initiative, the ensemble has performed across the U.S. and internationally, engaging listeners in innovative performances of jazz standards and original compositions. CSM Jazz Ensemble Concert. 8 pm, Dec. 4. College of Southern Maryland, Prince Frederick Campus, Building B, Multipurpose Room, 115 J.W. Williams Road, Prince Frederick. CSM’s Jazz Ensemble Solid Brass, directed by Randy Runyon, will perform an assortment of holiday classics in the big band swing style. $5 in advance, $7 day of event. 301-934-7828.

CSM Main Stage Theatre: “Oliver!” 7:30 pm, Nov. 12; 8 pm, Nov. 13-14. College of Southern Maryland, La Plata Campus, Fine Arts (FA) Building, Theatre, 8730 Mitchell Road, La Plata. This is the classic tale of an orphan boy who struggles to find a better life. Along his journey his is sold to an undertaker, made to join a gang of pick-pockets, taken in by a rich benefactor and has a run-in with a villain. $15 adults, $12 military/seniors/youth.  301-934-7828.

Southern Mix, directed by Paul Douglass, is a men’s barbershop chorus which rehearses on CSM’s La Plata Campus.
