Memorial Golf Tournament to Honor Pat Horvatter

To honor Pat Hovatter, former commanding officer of NAS Patuxent River 2000-2002 and Director of International Programs for NAVAIR 2002-2004, Lt. Dave “Spiggy” Spigler, is organizing his 12th Memorial Golf Tournament with the help of Glen Ives, commanding officer from 2006-2008.
Capt. Horvatter died January 2, 2012 after a sudden and brief illness. The memorial tournament is scheduled for Monday October 22, 2012 at the Chesapeake Hills Golf Club with proceeds headed toward the “Wounded Warrior Project” and Children’s Hospital in Washington, DC, in accord with Capt. Horvatter and his family’s wishes.
“Pat was a great friend to all and a superb CO of NAS,” Lt. Spigler writes in his e-mail seeking participants and sponsors. “He did much to involve the local community with the base through origination of the annual Army-Navy Parade prior to the big game each fall. He brought local high school bands and organizations to participate in this fun event. He also led teams to build three Homes for Habitat. He was a complete gentleman and caring individual who was loved and respected by all.”
The cost per foursome is $450 or $125 per individual. Each participant will receive a golf shirt with the name of the event, a goodie bag, adult beverages [beer] and soft drinks brought to them by members of the Washington Redskins Cheerleaders. An awards dinner will follow the tourney.
