MedStar St. Mary’s Reaps Marketing Awards

The Marketing, Public Relations, and Philanthropy (MPRP) Department of MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital continues to earn recognition for excellence. The department announced it has earned five health care marketing awards from the Aster Awards Program and the Healthcare Marketing Report.

The elite Aster Awards Program dedicates itself to finding the most excellent medical marketing organization and highlighting them for recognition. The publications group HMR is focused on marketing news and information from around the country in the field of higher education and health care.

The MedStar St. Mary’s MPRP department has been consistently earning these awards for the past 10 years. However, this is the second year in a row that the department has received two Aster Gold Awards for The Pulse, the hospital’s monthly internal newsletter that is distributed to associates, and promotional material for the hospital’s annual Gala Fundraising Event. In 2015, the event was Diamonds Are Forever. The annual event, held in November, raises thousands of dollars for hospital scholarships, capital projects, new equipment, and various other hospital improvements.

Also this year, MedStar St. Mary’s earned two Silver Aster Awards, one for a pocket folder marketing piece that was designed to hold various fliers, publications, and brochures and one for Healthy Living, a quarterly magazine that is mailed to nearly 100,000 Southern Maryland homes. In addition, promotional materials for the 2015 Diamonds Are Forever Foundation Gala also placed at the Bronze level for Advertising Awards through HMR.

“I believe our team approach plays a huge role in the quality outcome of these projects and is reflective of our service values hospital-wide,” said Holly Meyer, director of marketing, public relations, and philanthropy at MSMH. “It’s encouraging when our hard work is recognized among thousands of entries across the nation in our industry.”
