Learn More About Paying for College at CSM
Paying for college can be a challenge and the College of Southern Maryland is working to help students find ways get funding to pay for their education. One CSM employee recently appeared on a Maryland Public Television program to discuss the topic, and students or potential students can get help at a workshop noon to 4 pm Jan. 31 at the Calvert Library in Prince Frederick.
During the College Goal Sunday event in Prince Frederick, college staff will help parents and students in filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) application, which determines a family’s eligibility for financial assistance and has to be submitted before students apply for financial aid and scholarships at all academic institutions. Prior to the event, attendees should obtain a pin number and complete a pre-application worksheet here, and bring student and parent records such as Social Security numbers, 2014 federal income tax returns, 2014 W-2 statements and untaxed income records such as Social Security, TANF, SNAP, and VA benefits. The event is free. Register at [email protected] or call 301-934-7531 and press “0” to leave a message.
The Calvert Library is at 850 Costley Way.

CSM Financial Assistance Director Chris Zimmermann recently was interviewed for a program called “Ways to Pay for College,” produced by Frank Batavick of Maryland Public Television.
The program outlines ways students can pay for college and provides tips on filling out the FAFSA, which is the first step in applying for federal, state, local, non-profit and corporate scholarships and grants.
