Join Walden at Fed Up! Rally

Fed Up

Let your voice be heard in Washington, DC, and become a part of the fight against opioid addiction and overdose. Walden is sponsoring a coach bus for members of the community who want to attend the Fed Up! Rally on Sunday, Sept. 18, 2016, on Capitol Hill.

The Fed Up! Rally and March to Capitol Hill supports the Fed Up! campaign’s mission to create a single voice calling for an end to the epidemic of addiction and overdose deaths attributed to opioids like heroine and prescription drugs. The coalition wants to achieve the following goals: ensure that people suffering from opioid addiction have access to affordable, evidence-based treatment; prevent children, friends and loved ones from becoming addicted to opioids; eliminate overdose deaths; and support and enable recovery.

The bus will leave Southern Maryland in the morning and has planned pick-up points in Lexington Park, California, Prince Frederick, and Charlotte Hall. “This is a great opportunity to be part of advocacy,” said Laura Webb, recovery support director at Walden. “Folks from all around the county who care about the individuals and families impacted by opiate addiction attend this event — there is a strong presence of family members who have lived through the loss of a loved one, people in recovery, people who support recovery, and loved ones of those in recovery. This is our third year in participating, and it has been such an empowering experience for those who have attended in the past. It is amazing to be with so many others who want to make the nation safer from the risks of opiate addiction.”

Walden pledges to continue to bring Southern Maryland “Help for today. Hope for tomorrow” with a range of traditional and non-traditional behavioral health options.
