Join an Art Class or Decorate the Sidewalk
Replicate, invent, or create a piece of art with chalk at Annmarie Sculpture Garden & Arts Center’s annual Sidewalk Chalk-a-thon from August 4 – 12, 2012, 10am – 4pm daily. No reservations required. Simply pick up a bucket of chalk at the Arts Building! Prizes will be awarded in various age groups, including an adult category! Don’t want to get chalky? Just walk the path and enjoy the colorful masterpieces. Cost to enter the Chalk-a-thon is $2 per person; $1 per person for members. Regular site admission fees also apply. Don’t miss this unique opportunity to make some interesting art and experience a rather colorful pathway!
Adult Art Classes
Annmarie Garden will host an Introduction to Stained Glass Class on August 4, 2012, 10:00 am – 2:00 pm. Learn the fundamentals behind stained glass art as Annmarie Garden explores the copper foil technique – cut, shape, and grind glass to make a small sun-catcher for your window. Annmarie Garden will host an artLAB Workshop: Junk Drawer Art on August 3, 4, and 5th, 2012,
10:00 am – 12:00 pm (3 class series). Bring the contents of one of your junk drawers and we’ll swap junk and ideas to create a one of a kind, fun and funky composition on a wooden canvas. Art Classes for Kids
Annmarie Garden will host a Creative Writing Class on June 30, July 14, July 28, and August 11,
9:30 – 12:00 pm (4-class series, meets every 2 weeks). Set amidst the beautifully blooming garden and artfully arranged galleries, this class is designed for creative writers of all levels. Genres may include poetry, fiction, drama, and creative non-fiction. The student will be guided through the writing process using exercises and readings that emphasize dynamic and meaningful expression. Member Cost: $85 / Nonmember Cost: $90. Annmarie Garden will host a Play in Clay: Fabulous Fairy Houses and Gnome Homes Class, on August 4, 2012, 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm. Learn techniques to create a ceramic fairy house or gnome home to display in your yard! Pinch, coil, and slab techniques will be demonstrated. Parents must sign up with children ages 6-11; parents get to make their own as well! Registration is required; please call 410-326-4640.
Annmarie Garden will host HoopSHOP – A Hula Hoop Workshop on August 4, 2012, 9:30 – 12:00 p.m. Decorate your own hula hoop and jam! This workshop will include hoop dance instruction and the opportunity for you to customize a hula hoop to your liking! Choose the size and weight of your hoop and use our supplies to make it colorful! We will conclude our session with a hoop jam in the garden! All participants come away with an awesome hula hoop and a few new moves. Member cost: $15 / Nonmember cost: $20, plus $10 due to instructor at class (for materials).
