Island Creek Ospreys

2020 — What I Knew Then and What I Know Now — 2026

Four Ospreys returned and six Ospreys migrated north to Island Creek for the first time in March 2020. All summer, the six youngsters skirmished outside my pandemic-office window over two new nest platforms the Captain had installed.

A telescope in 2021 led to anthropomorphism, specifically, snarky names to help me differentiate them.

In 2022 the Captain proclaimed St. George Island, Osprey Capital of the World. Their poop was an island issue by ’23. And then, that wasn’t an issue anymore.

Season seven of my snooping, cataloguing, and now tattling on the Ospreys that summer on Island Creek is ongoing as this posts. Today there is a lot of hope on the creek.
