International Film Festival Returns

Final Film Festival Offers 5 Films

Experience five countries in five weeks at Bridges to the World International Film Series, an international film festival returning to the Southern Maryland Higher Education Center’s Building II this February and March. Five films will be presented between Feb. 4 and March 4, 2015.

The film series is a statewide, month-long initiative in recognition of  Maryland’s global reach and a reflection of those connections here. The series of international films selected by five embassies in Washington DC in a “Sister-State” program sponsored by the Maryland Secretary of State. The films are free.  Reservations not required.

Each film is sponsored by its respective country. Countries include Thailand, Sweden, Peru, China, and Kenya. All films are presented with English subtitles.

The films air once a week, on Wednesday evenings, beginning Feb. 4, 2015.   All five films will be shown at SMHEC, in the Center Hall, Building II, and will begin at 6:30 pm.

The first selection, airing tonight, Feb. 4,  is Monrak Transistor, from Thailand.

The other films in the International series are:”Finding Gaston” from Peru, Feb. 11; “Palme,” sponsored by Sweden, Feb. 18; “Kora,”  (One Mile Above), Feb. 25; and “Leo,” sponsored by Kenya, March 4.
