WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-5) released the following statement after the House passed a bipartisan Water Resources Reform and Development Act conference report:

“I’m pleased the House passed a bipartisan Water Resources Reform and Development Act conference report, which allows us to invest in our nation’s infrastructure and authorizes the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to operate water projects, improve flood management, and restore the environment. This legislation will help the Corps move forward with important projects here in Maryland, including dredging the Baltimore Harbor and Channel; restoring the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries; and supporting oyster recovery efforts.  These projects are not only important to the sustainability of our most important natural resources, but will also help keep our state competitive, grow our economy, and put Marylanders to work. I thank Senate and House conferees for negotiating this bipartisan legislation, and I hope the President will swiftly sign it into law.”
