Hoyer: US Adds 206,000 Jobs in June

Economy

The US Labor Department released its June 2024 jobs report which showed that the US added another 206,000 jobs in June, Congressman Steny H. Hoyer said.

“We have now seen 41 months of consecutive job growth – an encouraging sign that reflects America’s remarkable economic strength,” Rep. Hoyer (D-MD) said. “The total jobs created since President Biden took office in January 2021 has reached a historic 15.7 million, and unemployment remains near its record low at 4.1 percent. Earlier in June, we also received news that inflation has continued to go down, and Democrats remain laser-focused in our work to continue lowering Americans’ everyday costs.

He said that the continued strength of the country’s historic economic recovery provides a sense of stability as some cast doubt on the democracy’s future.

“Our economy’s success depends on our democracy’s integrity. Democrats are committed to preserving the principles enshrined in our Constitution – values we all celebrated on Independence Day this week – just as we are devoted to lowering costs, creating new jobs, and building safer communities by implementing the laws we passed last Congress.”

Congressman Hoyer is chair of the Regional Leadership Council.
