Hoyer Touts Make It In America Success

Hoyer Make It In America

Since US Rep. Steny Hoyer launched the Make It In America plan in 2010, 17 bills have been signed into law. The goal of Make It In America is to create the best conditions for American businesses to innovate, manufacture, and create jobs in this country, right here at home.

The congressman recently visited the Chesapeake Regional Tech Council in Annapolis to discuss the Make It In America plan he is leading in Congress, as well as his legislation to modernize government technology.

“I was pleased to join the Chesapeake Regional Tech Council [Oct. 4] to discuss how we can continue to spur innovation and expand entrepreneurship in Maryland,” he said. “I’m leading a plan in Congress called Make It In America, which has seen significant success with 17 bills signed into law, and I will continue to work to advance it so more businesses in Maryland and their workers can succeed. I’m also committed to advancing my legislation to modernize government technology so that it is more efficient, transparent, and secure for the American people. I look forward to working with members of the council to advance these priorities, and I thank them for meeting with me today.”

In June, Congressman Hoyer announced a new Make It In America plan, which focuses on encouraging the next generation of entrepreneurs to innovate and start companies here in the US. The plan focuses on four key areas of action: expanding entrepreneurship and innovation, closing the skills gap, building a 21st-century infrastructure, and breaking down barriers to manufacturing in the US.

In April, Congressman Hoyer introduced the Information Technology Modernization Act, which would create an innovative way to upgrade and modernize government technology while strengthening cybersecurity. The legislation was combined with another bill to create the Modernizing Government Technology Act and was passed by the House of Representatives in September.
