Hoyer: Jobs Grew by 16M in Past 4 Years

The US Department of Labor’s January 2025 jobs report indicates America’s labor market grew every month President Biden held office, said Rep. Steny H. Hoyer, 16 million jobs in four years.
“The jobs report released [February 7] revealed that 143,000 jobs were added to the US economy in January. … Additionally, the unemployment rate ticked down to four percent,” the congressman said. “This is the benchmark – from inheriting an economy hemorrhaging jobs and growing numbers of COVID cases, President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris oversaw unprecedented economic recovery and growth over four years. This historic recovery was no accident.”
Hoyer credited the Investing in America agenda, made up of historic legislation ranging from the Inflation Reduction Act to the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to the CHIPS and Science Act.
“We took action to rebuild our infrastructure, lower costs of everyday goods, and create good-paying jobs across the country,” he said.
Rep. Hoyer said he hoped the economy performs well under the new administration. “When the economy succeeds, the American people succeed.”
“Democrats will continue to stand up for our federal employees so our federal workers can continue to stand up for Americans across the country,” he said.
Congressman Hoyer is chair of the Regional Leadership Council.
