High School Science & Engineering Fair Coming Feb. 1

The 53rd Annual St. Mary’s County Science & Engineering Fair will be held on Feb. 1 and 2 in the cafeteria at Great Mills High School.  The fair will be open to the public on Feb. 2 from 1-3 p.m.  The awards ceremony, which is also open to the public, will begin at 3:30 p.m. in the school’s auditorium.  The snow dates for this event are Feb. 8 and 9.

Rules and entry forms are available to all students in St. Mary’s County at the Science & Engineering Fair Board’s website (www.sm-sef.org) or www.smcps.org/tlpd/tl/science/st-marys-science-a-engineering-fair.

Completed registration packets for all St. Mary’s County students, including public, private, and homeschooled students, must be delivered to the St. Mary’s County Public Schools Central Administration Building at 23160 Moakley Street, Leonardtown, Maryland by 4:00 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 11.

Consalvo Appointed STEM Coordinator

In other news, the St. Mary’s County Board of Education appointed Ms. Jennifer Consalvo as STEM Coordinator in the Department of Teaching, Learning and Professional Development.

Ms. Consalvo joined St. Mary’s County Public Schools in August 2005 as a Science teacher at Leonardtown Middle School.  She is currently a Mathematics teacher at Leonardtown Middle School.  Ms. Consalvo holds a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and Biology from Salisbury University and a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Administration from Towson University.

This appointment will be effective on or about Jan. 21.
