High School Sailing Competitions Resume this Month

High school sailing teams resume their practices and competition on March 13 at Sailing Center Chesapeake’s facilities at Tall Timbers Marina.

Three Southern Maryland high schools sail at the Center: Leonardtown, Great Mills, and Patuxent. A fourth, St. Mary’s Ryken, uses its own waterfront on Breton Bay.

These teams compete in weekend competitive regattas sponsored by the Maryland Interscholastic Association, a part of the mid-Atlantuc district of the national authority for high school sailing. The MDISA consists of 30 schools in the Washington, Baltimore, Annapolis, Eastern Shore, and Southern Maryland regions.
