Heat Advisory Issued for St. Mary’s

Leonardtown, MD – The National Weather Service  issued a Heat Advisory from noon today to 7:00 p.m. for St. Mary’s County. Heat index values of around 105 degrees, with temperatures in the mid to upper 90s, can be expected.

Citizens are urged to take extra precautions particularly if you work or spend time outside. When possible reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Wear light weight and loose fitting clothing when possible and drink plenty of water.

The following locations will be open from 9:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. for use by residents as cooling centers:

 Lexington Park Library

21677 FDR Blvd., Lexington Park
