Group Grief Counseling is Available at Hospice

Hospice of St Mary'sHospice of St. Mary’s offers grief counseling groups for those who have lost loved ones.

  • Good Grief Support Group: Meets every first and third Tuesday of the month from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Designed for any individual who has lost a loved one through death. No registration required.  This group meets at the MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital Pavillion, on the second floor.
  • Monthly Surviving Spouses Group:  Meets every first Thursday of the month at 6 pm at the Hospice House conference room.  No Registration is required.  This is pot luck meeting for dinner.
  • Men’s Grief Support Group:  Meets every 4th Thursday of the month at 6 pm.  Designed for men who have lost a spouse/significant other.   No registration is required.
  • Surviving Spouses Group: Meets once a week for eight consecutive weeks from 6 to 8 p.m. Designed for any individual who has lost a spouse within the past six months of the group’s start date. Registration is required. This group runs several times a year.

Adolescents (ages 13 through 18):

  • Through My Eyes Teen Support Group: Meets once a week for eight consecutive weeks from 6 to 8 p.m. Designed for any adolescent who has lost a loved one through death. Registration is required. This group runs several times a year.

Children (ages 6 through 12):

  • Sunrise Children’s Group: Meets once a week for eight consecutive weeks from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Designed for any child who has lost a loved one through death. Registration is required. This group runs several times a year.
  • Camp Sunrise: Two-day weekend camp held in the summer months is designed to support children who have lost a loved one through death. Registration is required.

Individual Support (ages 4 and older):

  • Bereavement support is available on an individual basis for grief counseling. Appointment is required.
