Get Up Close with Art at Annmarie
Three adult programs are scheduled for Annmarie Sculpture Garden & Arts Center in Solomons, MD, in August, offering the opportunity to learn from artists and even hone creative skills.
A Gallery Talk from 1 to 2:30 pm Aug. 16 will feature Heroes & Villains artist Terry Quinn. A gifted artist and the owner of Solomons Gallery, Quinn will offer a wide-ranging discussion of the art of photography, his award-winning images, inspiration, artistic challenges and how he makes a living doing what he does.
Reservations not required and admission for the Gallery Talk is free.
Also on Aug. 16, take a Modern Petroglyphs Drop-In Workshop for Adults from 2 to 3 pm and an advanced class from 3 to 4 pm. Advance registration is not required. The workshops are included with the price of admission, members are always free. Each workshop is designed for different skill levels.
The first workshop will include hands-on activities such as stone rubbings, simple printmaking and papermaking. The second workshop will include advanced printing, papermaking & paper casting.
All summer long, AMG Artist-In-Residence, Kevin Sudeith, has been carving petroglyphs featuring local imagery into three large boulders along the trails. From these carvings, he makes heavily embossed prints using paints and paper pulp. Mr. Sudeith will be demonstrating his carving technique and leading an advanced drop-in workshop for adults. Join Mr. Sudeith for advanced printing, papermaking and paper casting for adults. No registration necessary – just drop in!
