FDA Gives Hospital Mammograms a Perfect Score

The Food and Drug Administration awarded the mammography program at MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital a perfect review score for compliance with the Mammography Quality Standards Act. In order to comply, facilities across the country must undergo annual evaluations and meet uniform quality standards and guidelines for equipment, personnel and reporting.
The Mammography Program at MedStar St. Mary’s is under the leadership of renowned breast radiology expert Dr. Anna Choi, chief of radiology at MedStar St. Mary’s and radiologist with Center Radiology P.C. at MedStar Washington Hospital Center (MWHC), Ethan Leeman, director of Imaging, and Mary Shanahan, mammography lead. In addition, two new radiologists from Center Radiology at MWHC who specialize in women’s and breast imaging are now part of MedStar St. Mary’s Imaging Department.
The hospital’s mammography program is just one aspect of the services related to women’s breast health and to breast-related disease management available at MedStar St. Mary’s.
During October’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month, women who have their mammogram at MedStar St. Mary’s will receive a free gift (while supplies last) that includes a manicure kit and a pink nail color generously donated by OPI, a company nationally known for their quality nail lacquers used in salons and spas.
