For Families, Game Night at Annmarie

Annmarie Garden Family Game Night

Families are invited to spend an evening at Annmarie Garden Sculpture Garden & Art Center playing games. Family Game Night will be held from 5:30 to 8:30 pm Friday, Oct. 28, 2016.

This special Game Night evening, designed for adults, and youth ages 10 and older, will be held in conjunction with Annmarie After Hours to celebrate the opening of a new art exhibit, “Games: from Marbles to Minecraft.”  Pinball, giant pick-up sticks, cornhole, and an array of board games and puzzles will fill the Murray Arts Building for game enthusiasts to play and enjoy.

High Tide Games of Lexington Park and Play-n-Trade of Lusby will both be bringing interactive games, including a Minecraft playing station and new games including a Pokemon Trading Card game. Pokémon Go players will be happy to find many Pokéstops and three gyms at the Garden and lures will be set all evening for non-stop play.

There will be complementary refreshments courtesy of Mission BBQ, free popcorn and lemonade for the kids courtesy of Hardesty Haven Catering, along with a cash bar for the older guests (soft drinks, wine, beer, etc.).  This event is intended for adults, and youth ages 10 and older. Admission is free for members, $5 adults, and $3 for youth (ages 10 to 17). No reservations necessary. For more information, call 410-326-4640.

In the “Games: from Marbles to Minecraft” exhibit, visitors will see an exploration of game history, development, and innovation, from game design, to production, packaging, and marketing. Artists were invited to also consider how the art of games has changed over time and to speculate what the future of gaming might hold.

Contributing artists for the show include Allen Alejo, Chelsea Anspach, Marilyn Bottjer, Barbara Boward, Rick Clement, Shannon Cramer, Evelyn Davies-Walker, Connie Dillon, Adrienne Dixon, Sherman Finch, Elisabeth Ladwig, Robert Levy, Diana Manchak, Anthony May, Mary Mazziotti, Tricia McLaughlin, Margaret Morrison, Julia Musengo, Matthew Olson, Jen Poteet, Edith Pucci Couchman, J.
