Brian GanzPianist Brian Ganz will continue his popular Chopin Discoveries series at St. Mary’s College of Maryland on Thursday, March 21, starting at noon in the Auerbach Auditorium of St. Mary’s Hall (18952 E. Fisher Road, St. Mary’s City, MD 20686). He will play and discuss several works of the great Romantic composer, including perennial favorites and a few less well-known pieces. The program is free and open to the public.

“I love introducing the public to what I like to call Chopin’s ‘buried treasures,’” Ganz said. “There are many such pieces. I’ll play some lesser-known mazurkas that are absolutely exquisite, along with a sparkling little piece he didn’t even give a title. We refer to it by its tempo marking, ‘Presto con leggerezza,’ or ‘very fast and with lightness.’ I’ll also play one of Chopin’s greatest masterpieces, ‘Ballade No. 4.'”
