Decades in Planning, Months in Making: FDR Blvd.

While it’s taken decades to get the planning approvals in place to extend FDR Boulevard across Great Mills Road, Great Mills Trading Post can construct it within months.

It will take about five or six months to build the 1,000 feet of FDR Boulevard from Millison Plaza to the library, estimates Bob Troutman. Mr. Troutman shepherds the Trading Post’s construction projects from paper into excavation, paving and compaction tasks.

Construction on this segment of FDR Boulevard will begin once St. Mary’s Metropolitan Commission completes required work on the impacted water and sewer lines.

Although roads associated with new development have been constructed and turned over to county ownership, this block of FDR Boulevard will be the first county-built road since  constructing Pegg Road between Chancellor’s Run Road and Route 235 in the 1990s.
