Create Your Own Tea Set with Mom

Tea set

Make Mother’s Day extra special this year by creating your own family tea set. On May 1, families or groups can come to Annmarie Sculpture Garden and Art Center for “Play in the Clay: Mother’s Day Tea Party,” where families can work with their mothers on an entire tea service, including a tea pot, creamer, sugar bowl, and cups and saucers.

Two sessions are scheduled that day; the first is from 10 am to 1 pm and the second is from 1:30 to 4:30 pm. Families can work together to make their own whimsical sets, and them decorate them with colorful underglazes.

After the tea sets are finished, they require two to three weeks to dry and then fire in the kiln. Families will be contacted when their sets are ready for pickup.

Pre-registration is required for this event. For more information about this event, and any of the amazing programs and events at Annmarie, call 410-326-4640 or visit the Annmarie website, listed in the first paragraph. Find the class on the garden’s class page and register there.

Cost for the class is $65 for member couples, $75 for non-members. Cost for additional family members is $10.

This is just one of the many classes and programs offered at Annmarie Sculpture Garden and Art Center. From Family Yoga to summer camps, Annmarie is a destination for the entire family to learn and grow together. Many of the classes are free or very inexpensive, and often offer a take-home craft.

An affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution, Annmarie Garden is in Solomons, MD. The sculpture garden features a walking path that meanders through the forest past permanent and loaned sculpture, including more than 35 works of art on loan from the Smithsonian and the National Gallery of Art. Annmarie Garden also presents special events, gallery shows, and public art programs.
