The St. Mary’s Board of County Commissioners held a formal proclamation ceremony marking October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

Commissioners recognized that domestic violence has traditionally been a major area of focus in the county as well as the St. Mary’s County Commission for Women. Each year a proclamation acknowledging October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month is issued. Commissioners also took the opportunity to recognize the agencies across the county who work to address this very serious matter.

The Commission for Women was joined by the Family Violence Coordinating Council, law enforcement, mental health and a coordinator for victims and witnesses for the ceremony.
